Reviews

There is one bad review circulating of a winter engagement we did and I will provide my response to it here.

I was asked to do an engagement session in the winter but I told my clients it was important that if we do this they have to come to have fun. I scouted areas ahead of time and did my normal due diligence but thinking all the time we were going to use sleds and other fun stuff to make the winter session work with truly fun loving pictures.

Upon arrival and beginning the session I discovered people really didn’t want to get snow on themselves or have fun. Of course this put an end to many of the poses and pictures I wanted. What made it really bad is that not only did people not want to get snow on themselves but it was apparent they really didn’t even want to be there at all. In order to get smiles on faces I had to manipulate faces in Photoshop to create smiles. I spent hours putting smiles on faces and trying to make the pictures look like this event was something everybody wanted to do. In regards to clothing problems mentioned my other reviews and my work speaks for itself. Remember we are taking pictures out in the coldest part of MN winter and I’m moving fast out of courtesy for my clients getting cold. There were no pictures where clothing looked bad in the pictures anyway this is a person’s preference not a fact.

Having said this entire judge for yourself when you look at our reviews and work here and elsewhere on the Internet not upon one couple’s bitterness that exist because unless we book their day to another couple they lose their deposit for reserving the day. In regards to the great deals they found we are the ones that people come to after those good deals result in botched wedding pictures bringing them to us so we can perform our digital magic. Our company offers digital photo editing services and if you are one of these couple don’t live with trash wedding pictures because we are masters in digital photo editing. We can even put smile on faces!

One does not need to be well-known or have an “image” to be a good photographer. To be a good photographer one must have passion for what they do and it should show in every facet of their work. In Art Ramsey and Ramsey Still Imaging, this is what my husband and I found.

Searching for a wedding photographer about six months before the big date was quite the time – we found that photographers were already booked on our date or found great disappointment in what was being offered by photographers who seemed to have an image to uphold.

Many did not place basic information on their websites such as cost and availability, forcing us to go out of our way to get this information. Many photographers had very limited samples of their work on their websites, and it also seemed standard for most photographers to cover only 7-8 hours of a wedding day, even though anyone who has been to a wedding knows it’s an all-day photogenic affair.

Most frustrating to us was the fact that very few photographers offered wedding photos on CD with copyright release. To us, offering copyright release meant that a photographer recognized that he took the picture but that it was our day and our image to do with as we wished. And since my husband and I weren’t looking for printed photos and albums from a photographer but were looking to have our memories preserved digitally, this option was very important to us.

My husband found http://www.ramseystillimaging.com and not only were we pleased with Art’s previous work and how well his site was laid out but we were thrilled to know that we would be getting all of our photos on CD and copyright release. We chose the “BUILD YOUR OWN PACKAGE” with videography coverage.

On our wedding day, Art and his son Arthur didn’t arrive an hour before our ceremony to take pictures – their day began at 8am when they arrived at the bed and breakfast I was staying at in Stillwater . Right away I found that Art was a lot of fun – he was very outgoing and likeable and took pictures of everything and everyone in my room, and not only got pictures of my bridesmaids and me getting ready but was also able to take pictures of my husband and best man getting ready in their room.

A thunderstorm had rolled through the Twin Cities very early on the morning of our wedding and I’ll never forget how mad I was, since we were having an outdoor ceremony at Albertson’s Farm. When I stepped outside to see overcast skies lingering Art pacified me, telling me that full sunlight wasn’t best for good photos anyway. And what happened shortly thereafter but the sun came out! We ended up having a beautiful wedding day – hot, but not a cloud in the sky.

Throughout the day, Art and Arthur stayed with us everywhere we went like we were movie stars and they our paparazzi, preserving everything we did not only “on film” but with video as well (Arthur behind the video camera). Art never once directed us or our families like we were at a photo shoot, and for this I will always be grateful, as it was the last thing we wanted or needed on our big day. Instead, things were very “casual” and fun – Art always had ideas for pictures and poses but always indulged our suggestions and really made it feel like we were in control of what we were going to get. From preparations beginning at 8am to the ceremony at 2pm, a reception at 5pm and bouquet and garter toss around 8pm, Art and his son covered it all.

Though my husband and I were away on our honeymoon when we got an email from Art that our pictures were online for us to view, the resort at which we were staying had Internet access so we were able to preview our pictures online – all 706 of them! We were very pleased with this – it had been less than a week since the wedding and everyone could already see our photos.

From a shot of the bridal party walking in front of the Stillwater lift bridge being lowered and a black and white picture of the bridal party in a tunnel near the river with bouquets and boutonnières in color, to a picture of my husband and me peeking around a tree at each other at the golf course, infrared shots of our ceremony and wide angle shots of my dress on the bed in my room, the photos were way beyond any expectations we had harbored. Needless to say, we loved with what we saw and we were highly impressed not only with how Art’s expertise and imagination showed in his work but with the volume of photos we received.

When we picked up our photos, everything was organized in a leather three ring, our CDs and DVD contained in plastic cases and held in plastic sleeves. Every picture had even been printed as a thumbnail image on proof pages and placed in plastic sleeves for us. This presentation was much more than I know other couples received from their photographers, couples whose weddings took place a year ago yet still haven’t received all of their photos.

Selecting a wedding photographer is tough – you know you need one, but how do you know that the money spend will be worth it? How can you trust that a stranger will preserve your special day the way you want it done? Well, judging by the fact that I still look at our wedding photos every day (thanks in part to having many our wedding pictures on my PC at work) and by how many compliments we have received on our photos from everyone who has seen them or received them as gifts, I would say with certainty that my husband and I made the right choice.

Some couples try to find the least expensive photographer for their day to save money, whereas I have always been a firm believer in the saying, “you get what you pay for.” The way I saw it was that you only had one wedding day and one chance for your photographer to get it right and preserve your special day forever, so what you put in on a good photographer you got back many times more.

Memories fade, but photos will last a lifetime. If you want quality work and photos that you will love today, tomorrow and even in fifty years, choose Ramsey Still Imaging.

Thank you Art and Arthur!

We loved having Art Ramsey as our wedding photographer. Not only was he easy and understanding to work with, but he took some of the most beautiful pictures of us. We will always treasure our wedding pictures. Thank you Art for truly capturing our wedding day!

Art Ramsey is an amazing wedding photographer! We loved the variety of wedding pictures he provided for us. We also loved having the rights to ALL of our pictures. Having the rights to our wedding pictures was so nice to have because we could make more copies to give to our wedding party and family.

Having Art Ramsey was the best choice for us on our wedding day. We was very affordable, friendly, and creative. Thank you Art for capturing our wedding as one of the best days of our lives!

Ramsey Still Imaging is at a whole different level then the other photographers we have seen or heard of yet remain at an affordable price.

For one, they captured the entire day. Which means when we unexpectedly went on the ice rink after the dance had started, they were there. Some of our favorite shots are the ones which occurred outside of the normal photography window.

Secondly, they archive your photos and are always updating the technology. I was impressed when I received an email from him letting me know that he had uploaded my wedding photos to a secured online site. I can log in and view them anytime I don’t have the DVD handy. This was an unexpected bonus occurring months after the wedding and at no cost to me. Who else does that? No one.

Third, Art is into technology more than any other photographer we know. He didn’t just give us a DVD of proofs. No..he gave us one with resolution for smaller prints and another one with a resolution for larger prints.

Lastly, Art and Arthur do an amazing job capturing the day and getting you out of your comfort zone. Formal pictures are great but the informal and unique poses are what really captures the day. We have so many pictures of us and our friends and family laughing and smiling, it really captured the day. We feel fortunate to have found such an amazing company.

We absolutely LOVE our Wedding Day photos! Art and Arthur Ramsey are extremely professional and creative! It was refreshing to know that we were “in good hands” and they were able to take off “one less stress” off from the details of wedding planning and enjoy ourselves! They were willing to follow us around for the entire day to capture every minute! We all had so much fun posing and we were able to get some really beautiful and unique poses! We had our Wedding and Ceremony inside a hotel; thus, Art and Arthur used “props” such as a baggage cart to get pictures of what the boys do best- playing and goofing around! Our pictures reflect our personality to a “T”. We have the upmost confidence in their abilities and will be using them again sometime in the near future! Thank you, Art and Arthur, for your help in reliving our memories in photographs!

Ramsey Still Imaging gave me the best service, imagination, and candid photos I could have ever imagined. The photographer has much ability to enhance and create uniqueness and high quality in all of his shots. The business is conscientious, sensitive to the need at the moment, and works diligently with the highest tech possible to give the best photos anyone could imagine. If you want your photos to be the kind that people take a second look at because of their quality and creativity, go to Ramsey Still Imaging. Anyone can take pictures, but it takes a skilled photographer to have the vision and purpose for what the picture is intending to create in mood, gesture, and presence. Ramsey Still Imaging has this ability. I get comments on my pictures every time someone comes in my home. They are grand. Prices are reasonable. Remember, you are buying a lifetime of memories and you need the best. Maureen in New Mexico.

I chose Ramsey Still Imaging really for one reason – I was looking for a photographer that understood that he was taking pics of my family and those pics – all of them – should belong to me. Art understands that and was happy to tell me that when the day was over I would receive a digital copy of all the pics taken on that day. Honestly, other than that, I didn’t know anything about Art as a photographer. Well, I can say now that we couldn’t have been happier – and I will contact him and Arthur again for future events. We live two hours west of Minneapolis and yet Art and Arthur arrived 20 minutes early (at 7:40 am) to spend the day. They began with pics of the bridesmaids and bride at the hair salon and hung out with the wedding party….and the rest of us until approx 10:30 that evening. We requested a video also, of the ceremony and a portion of the reception and we are very pleased with the results of that video also. The photos are beautiful – they captured the essence of the day. They were with us all day but we never felt they were “in the way” – it was obvious they respected the day. We received our pics and video very soon after the wedding, as promised. I highly recommend Art and Arthur to anyone looking for an awesome photography team!

We chose Ramsey Still Imaging for a few great reasons. While planning our wedding, we agreed that photography was one of the most important factors. These pictures would be lasting memories of our special day. We wanted a photography that we could feel comfortable with and that could give us quality results. We were in love with the fact that we would OWN our pictures. It meant a lot to us that we could make pictures for our family to cherish and not have them spend an arm and a leg for a single photo. After meeting with Art, we were pleased with the connection that we made and immediately booked him. We took advantage of the videography option as well, and I have a great DVD of the wedding with clips throughout the day. The duo accompanied us through the preparation, the ceremony and reception. He was willing to take our ideas as well as use his own creativity. We were thrilled with the results and it was worth every penny. We were actually expecting to have to pay more for the service that we received. If you’re looking to have a photography that’s fun and will give you great results, definitely look up the father and son team of Art and Arthur Ramsey! “Jeremiah and Holly Hansen” – July 14, 2007

If you are getting married, having an event and need a photographer I strongly suggest you use Ramsey Still Imaging. I recently got married and was terrified of picking a photographer knowing what an important job it was. I met with a bunch of different photographers and finally settled on Art from Ramsey Still Imaging. He did an AMAZING job. I can’t say enough about him. So knowing what a stressful decision it is to pick a photographer I thought I would pass along my completely non-biased opinion. I am not affiliated with his company at all. I just want everyone bride to be able to have the wonderful memories captured the way we were lucky enough to. Another great thing is you get all the reproduction rights. So you can print off your own pictures. They are all high resolution so you can even blow them up yourself. He offers all of this too but you have options. And his pricing is very reasonable for what he offers. When checking out photographers look at time coverage, pictures taken, camera’s used. Etc. He trumps a lot of photographers out there. Check out his website I promise you will be ecstatic you did. So thanks Art and Arthur we could not have asked for more. We watch our video and look at our pictures regularly and remember every moment!!! You guys were amazing! I would suggest all of my friends and family members to use you for any special or memorable occasion

We could not have been more pleased with Art and the work he did photographing our wedding. He was so easy to work with, and he took such wonderful photos of our special day. And the CD and copyright release made it so easy to create our wedding album, and to make copies of photos to share with our families and friends. I highly, highly recommend Ramsey Still Imaging for any special event you want captured for all time.

– Tom and Maria on Jan 16, 2011

We chose Ramsey Still Imaging because the price was cheaper for basically the whole day instead of paying more for just a few hours. We were pleased with the creativity and uniqueness of our photos. As a added plus they also were able to get us a DVD of our wedding. Also, you get each and every picture he takes and on CD so you can make more elsewhere. However, his quality and prices were so great that I just had him make the extra prints I wanted. It was also nice that he put all the pictures in albums for us as I know that would be something that I would procrastinate on. The black and white pictures with the color flowers are amazing in person the website does not do this justice. So go meet with Art before making your decision you won’t be disappointed.
