Jesus & Charity 8/21/2010 Minneapolis & St Paul-The Grand Hotel

The photojournalistic approach to weddings is the most recent trend in wedding photography, but the success of the images is directly linked to how well the photojournalist enters into that unfamiliar setting and the people that fill it. We have for years preferred to be a part of the whole day beginning with the preparation time and continuing through the reception. We want to experience the different energies throughout the day. After all, how could you tell the story of a day if you were not a part of it? We arrive early, excited and ready to enter into these joyful occasions. This allows for pictures that are more natural and capture the energy of the day.
The time in preparation for the wedding is often a good time for us to bond with nervous couples and get them used to our cameras. We like to build a friendly-working relationship and feel like a part of your family for the day. While it’s obvious to all we are working hard, it’s also obvious to our clients that we are enjoying our time with your family and your friends.

Art’s formal education is in Cross Cultural Communications where North Central University taught him to go to another part of the world with only two suitcases of luggage and live with foreign people. He learned the language from the people and sometimes ate some very strange foods. Effective wedding photography is really about entering into another world, blending with it, and at the same time effectively recording it. Nothing grieves our hearts worse than to see a photographer who holds people at arm's length and is there only to work. They look very odd to us because they come with cameras and nothing else. These photographers don’t know how to relate to their couples. We tell our clients before they hire us, ”If you don’t want us to come and have fun, please don’t hire us” because weddings are about joy and having fun. In addition to relating well to our couples, we also have experience, and experience always takes the pressure off everyone. Couples can rest knowing the memories of the day will be captured with excellence. If an amateur is covering your day, they will spend all their time using the technical part of their mind and miss the beauty of life passing all around them. Our wedding package is all of the above and so much more...
