Wedding Video Only Package - $2,100.00
We offer a package exclusive to video coverage for those of you uninterested in having photographic coverage.
Preparations preceding the ceremony, but on location are covered. If a pre-ceremony meeting (typical with couples getting pre-ceremony formals) is a arranged that will be covered as well.
The reception is covered with two camcorders until the completion of the garter throw, providing the garter throw is completed before 10:00.
In general, the feel of our DVDs is creative journalism, stressing a holistic approach to the creation of a pseudo-documentary rather than the increasingly more common cinematic approach. However, a feature of the video only package is that we deviate a little from our journalist approach by providing a cinematic-styled synopsis (usually is under ten minutes in length) of your wedding. Our first goal is to be unobtrusive (we don't use lights, etc.)
The beauty of our open-souce[3] approach to wedding videography is in the customer's opportunity to create their own custom versions of their wedding using simple, yet powerful software. Let's say you don't like the background music the we added to your DVD, no problem using our Pinnacle Studio project file you can easily replace background music. You can replace the music again years later if want. Customization doesn't end at the music, you could for example, create a completely new version of your wedding as a special gift for your anniversary. Customization is not the only feature, another powerful feature is the benefit of not being locked into 2007 technology. One could say that the source is not needed to customize a DVD and that person would be correct (one could legally[4] rip our DVD), but neither the best quality nor the most control is not achieved in this way.
As if this wasn't a technical conversation already, for those interested we use at this time (subject to change):
A Canon GL 2 (which is generally considered a/the industry standard).
Pinnacle Studio is my program of choice, but I will on occasion use Vegas, iDVD or iMovie.
Note: Pinnacle Studio was chosen because it is cheap and intuitive, providing the possibility for customers to better use what we offer. Pinnacle Studio is considered a consumer grade program. However, you may have noticed we don't adhere to many of the convoluted industry standards. Pinnacle Studio offers a effective editing platform with effects on par with Avid (Pinnacle is a division of Avid), Apple or Sony products. Perhaps the best attribute of Pinnacle Studio is its small price tag, which better accommodates costumers to use our source[3] files.
I have used Vegas, iMovie, Final Cut, Premiere and others, but I come back to Pinnacle Studio. The only problem with Pinnacle Studio is its rendering engine which quite frankly was a great source of frustration up until Pinnacle's most recent patch. Perhaps its out-of-box menus are sub-standard, but I make my own menus regardless.
[1]The exception to this is communion, while it is recorded the majority of it will not be included in the final product, if this poses a problem read below[2].
[2]Upon request, the source of your wedding video is available in order to create a custom DVD based on our editing
[3]Source means: any file associated with the creation of your DVD: raw footage, raw audio, Pinnacle Studio project file(s), etc.
[4]Many companies have more restrictive licensing which would prohibit copying their DVD, much less rip it (see DMCA).
